In 2022 to celebrate British Monarchs Collection, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue King James I £500 Five Hundred Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid Fine 999.9 Gold weighing five ounce of pure Gold.
The British Monarchs Collection celebrates legendary Kings and Queens of the United Kingdom with each coin bearing an original coinage portrait of a monarch as it appeared during their reign, transposed from genuine historical samples using state-of-the-art technology and faithfully recreated for contemporary coinage.
The second coin in the series from the House of Stuart features an original portrait of King James I complete with Crown, Sceptre and Orb struck in proof quality which accentuates the details and enhances the overall aesthetics whilst the obverse depicts the fifth portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
